When you turn Mobile Notifications On, we will automatically notify you of any earthquake that is M7.0 or larger, after it has been properly verified. (There are a number of falsely reported earthquakes each year and we don't want to subject our users to false alarms if we can avoid it.)

In addition, we will notify you if a significant earthquake occurs in or around a major population center worldwide. This will include earthquakes smaller than M7.0, depending upon their location and depth that would be considered significant events because of their potential to cause substantial loss of human life and/or damage to property.

Because we have users in more than 70 countries, potentially speaking dozens of different languages, simplicity of use is a key design consideration for us.
